Hurricane Rita is now a Category 4, intensifying greatly in just a day…the NWS suggests that the hurricane may have 140 knot winds, which, if so, would bump it up to Cat 5 level, or the most damaging. Time will tell if it will strengthen further, but conditions are conducive for Rita to be just the sixth hurricane that strong to ever make landfall in the U.S.
I have a bad feeling about this one…even moreso than with Hurricane Katrina. Galveston, look out.
Rita may even affect our weather in northern Missouri sometime the first of next week, depending on its path. That sounds crazy but true.
