Worship or Woe-ship?

Visiting other churches is refreshing; a chance to spread God’s Word through preaching, or through singing, or through the wonderful testimonials the Lord has given both Jeannie and I.

Other times, however, I am saddened by the lack of true “worship” to God. It just seems that many churches are going through the motions, speaking of Him but denying His Power; lifting up their voices to be heard instead of in praise and glorifying His Name; gathering to be seen instead of meeting to fellowship and learn more about Jesus.

As a lay speaker, I have been to several churches where both Jeannie and I have felt demonic presences lurking; we have smelled the spiritual “death” that permeates entire buildings and oppresses God’s people. It is only through the power of the Holy Spirit that I have been able to make it through an entire service; and by the end of the day I am physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually drained.

Folks, we are in a battle for the very souls of all mankind, and sometimes we fight as if all we care about is ourselves. Instead of worship we go and complain about our aching bodies, our tired minds, and our decaying bodies. We would rather have “woe” ship that truly worship our living Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We would rather constantly look at the pessimistic side of things than to really give thanks for everything that He has given us.

It’s time for us to get up off of our duffs and pick up the Sword (our bibles) and wade into the battle that rages around us on all sides. It’s time to bring people into God’s House and let them hear about the amazing and wonderful story of unseen things above; that story of Jesus and His undying and gracious Love. It’s time for us to help change the world around us, a little at a time.

Sure, we are all sinners, but those of us who have accepted Jesus as our Savior and Lord have been forgiven, and are given a new beginning in life; likewise, we are given a commission to do: and that is to go out and tell others about what God has done in our lives, and about how He can do the same thing for them as well.

It’s time for not only a church revival, but for a WORLD revival as well.

And, Lord, let it begin with me.
