Finding The Tomb Of Jesus–A Story That Reeks of Blasphemy

UPDATE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 27th:

TIME Magazine online picks up the story with some James Cameron bashing of their own. Also, more and more scholars and experts are crying foul.

I think as the story gets put under the microscope more and more..that this will all be proven to be a giant hoax…for television ratings and to make Mr. Cameron look good.

***********

I just couldn’t let this one go after reading it…this is just like saying Jesus was NOT God. I am truly offended.

This, from ynetnews.com:

The cave in which Jesus Christ was buried has been found in Jerusalem, claim the makers of a new documentary film. If it proves true, the discovery, which will be revealed at a press conference in New York Monday, could shake up the Christian world as one of the most significant archaeological finds in history.

The coffins which, according to the filmmakers held the remains of Jesus of Nazareth, his mother Mary and Mary Magdalene will be displayed for the first time on Monday in New York.

The story goes on to say that six of the ten coffins bore inscriptions of the names of Jesua (Jesus), son of Joseph, Mary, Mary, Matthew, Jofa (Joseph, identified as Jesus’ brother), and Judah son of Jesua (Jesus’ son – the filmmakers claim).

The cave in which the coffins were found was discovered 30 years ago; the name markings were decoded 10 years ago…so my thought is this: why did it take so long, in this instant-on information age, to bring this news to the public? Why the secrecy?

Sounds like some major forgery/deception going on.

I, for one, believe what God’s Word says: that Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man, and that He was crucified to death, buried, and then rose again on the third day; that He defeated death; and that He ascended to sit at the right Hand of God the father, making intercession for us.

Anything else is just a lie from satan.

I do believe that they may have found something. But I also believe that Satan has probably confused those people doing the decoding.

Im not really sure how the bones of my risen Saviour could be found?

Hi Richard. I am not sure why you find this to be impossible, or for this to be so negative. To me it would be incredibly wonderful to have physical “proof” of the man who was Jesus Christ and his earthly family. I do not think that “proof” of God as Man denies the belief of Jesus as the Son of God–as you noted, Christians believe in the trinity–God the Father, Son and Spirit. Evidence of God the Son to me is a reason for joy. Maybe I am missing something from your post, but the fact that they have not revealed this until now doesn’t make it less believable, in fact it seems like it makes it more relevant to know that they have been cautious about going public with this until they had more research and more information to support their findings. If we believe that Jesus was indeed killed by the people, buried and left for dead, then what they’ve found simply supports our beliefs. Does it mean less that it is a coffin rather than just a shroud in a tomb? Not to me–our bible has been translated numerous times over the course of about 2000 years- it stands to reason that some details may have been lost in translation.

Thought provoking post to say the least! Hope all is well for you and the family.

  3. Satan never quits! It is up to us to continue to fight for the right of Christians to worship without interference from people who believe nothing. Keep the faith and let others know the Bible is truly to Word of God.

My reply got so long… I think I’ll just post it on my blog. Thanks for the post.

I would have to disagree with anyone that says such a discovery would be a good thing because it would prove Jesus’ existence. On the contrary . . . such a discovery would disprove the claims of Jesus and the Bible. This would not “shake up the Christian world;” instead, it would in affect destroy the truth and relevance of Christianity. It is not enough that Jesus lived and died. He also had to conquer death and rise again. If He is not risen, then it’s all a lie!

    >Anything else is just a lie from satan.
    You are very affirmative.

How can you be so sure?
Religion is a question of faith.

    What if this is true?

Personally, I would not be too surprised if this was the historical truth.
I would be surprised however that it can effectively be proven, or that DNA analysis can be proceeded as claims this documentary.

It will not be the first time that church dogma is rejected by science…

  9. sliceofhome says:

Scientific evidence, in fact, proves that the Bible is the Truth. Please reference http://www.clarifyingchristianity.com/science.shtml to see a long list of science being backed up by biblical passages.

So, in light of this…when the Bible says Jesus ascended into Heaven….that means He rose up in the air and vanished from sight…and now sits at the Right Hand of God the Father, making intercession for us.

One day EVERYONE will know this when they stand before God. And then there will be no reason to doubt…and there will be no excuses for ignorance.

  10. Larry Litle says:

I heard something about this claim. If it was ever possible to prove, it would shake the whole foundations of Christianity. My faith is not shaken by this hoax. I hope others will not be either.

  11. Dale says:

There should be no surprise that claims like this one are made. Jehovah Jeirah, our provider will set this deception straight as he always has, and the faith of many will be strenghened, with new faith arising in vast multitudes as facts begin to emerge.

  12. Michael Wayne says:

It makes me smile to think that after all these centuries, people are still “looking for the living among the dead”. This is simply a hoax; don’t waste your time on it.

  13. livinghopeinjesus says:

Satan has been trying to disprove the resurrection of our LORD since it happened for as the Scripture says….if Jesus did not raise from the dead, then our hope is in vain. Satan CANNOT seduce the TRUE child of God. The Holy Spirit within us has already shown us the truth about The LORD Jesus!!! THANK YOU. DEAR FATHER GOD ALMIGHTY!!!

Let us endure to the end.

  14. Michael Wayne says:

    That is so very true.

  15. God's child says:

No man on earth can ever find a tomb with Jesus in it it’s a lie from the pit of HELL. As the bible says this things shall come to past in the last days. I just believe it’s a rediculious discovery and as christians we should not believe a word of this nonsense. JESUS is up in heaven making intersetion for us on the right hand of the father not in some so called family tomb in jerusalem, and besides in those days there ways never coffins but sack cloths used to wap bodies. So to the person who discovered such go on your knees and ask God for forgiveness for dening his son and him. Those who endue onto the end shall be saved. Read the bible and you will understand especially 2ND JOHN 1:7-10. FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF DOMINICA IN THE CARIBBEAN.

  16. Luke Tait says:

I for one strongly believe the the Lord has already forewarned us of this I think this verse can prove that this is a hoax to lead the elect astray if possible “Mark 13:21 And then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ’ or ‘Behold He is there do not believe him”, we must keep the faith in our Lord Jesus, Glory be to God.

  17. cliff vincent says:

Im confident in saying that I believe that Jesus Christ ascended into heaven “Acts 1:9, And after He said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud recieved Him out of their sight.” also His flesh did not undergo decay it was an oath to David that God had made who has never broken an oath in all of history and will never break an oath, again it says “Acts 2:31 he looked ahead(David) and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that, HE WAS NIETHER ABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID HIS Flesh SUFFER DECAY.” This will prove to be a false finding and a scheme from the devil who is a master of deception. So im not at all shaken up by this finding,it was just a matter of time before something like this occurs remember satan will try everything in his power to turn the chosen ones of God away from Him but may it never be. So all my breathren pay no attention to this please for Christ’s sake, peace be with you all and God bless.
