Comedian Richard Pryor Dies

Known for his vulgar language and oftentimes raunchy stand-up acts, this groundbreaking comedian/actor died today from a heart attack at the age of 65.

Although MS (multiple sclerosis) slowed him in his later years, he managed to incorporate it for laughs while making the public aware of the tragic outcomes for those who suffered with the disease.

Like him or not, he paved the way for other black comedians and actors to follow, including Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Daman Wayans, Chris Rock, Sinbad, Dave Chappelle, and many others. And his zany pairing with Gene Wilder in their four films together was priceless; one of my favorites was Silver Streak. Pryor starred in over 40 movies throughout his long career.

The Academy Award nominee and Grammy winner is survived by his current wife Jennifer Lee Pryor, and five children.
